Approximately 25,000 households in south-east Queensland were left lacking electricity on Monday morning after intense storm systems passed over the state, generating powerful gusts topping 109 kilometers per hour.
Large Hailstones and Widespread Destruction
Locals reported giant hailstones as large as 7 centimeters in some areas. Meteorological experts announced that various areas across the state had been affected by significant hail.

Simultaneously, nearly 1,000 residents in Victoria also faced electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area recorded its most precipitation in a year and a half.
Emergency response teams received nearly 600 calls for help across the area, mainly for building damage but also for fallen timber and flooding.

During the peak on Sunday, over twenty-eight thousand energy customers in the state were without power.

Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along large portions of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a atmospheric system continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.
